The ‘Human Barbie’ Is Shedding Her Doll-Like Image For Something More Powerful

It can be hard to find out where you want to be in life. For most of us, the world seems so large, with so many passions and lifestyles to choose from. So it’s difficult to focus on only a few avenues to fully explore.

Even if you grow up with a clear idea of what you want to be, the world doesn’t always work out that way. Sure, it’s common to never quite get where you want to end up, but it’s not uncommon to find it unsatisfying when you do make it. What seemed so wonderful when you were working towards it doesn’t seem like such a good fit up close. So you keep trying new things until something comes along that just feels right.

With any luck, 30-year-old Valeria Lukyanova may have finally found what works for her. If so, that discovery came after a long and extreme period of searching.

Let’s see how she made out.

COMMENT and let us know what you’re working towards.

1. Lukyanova first made her name as a model.

Yet since the age of five, there was just one figure she wanted to be like.

2. And that figure was Barbie.

So in adulthood, she reinvented herself to become more doll-like.

3. She seemed to succeed as she quickly earned the nickname “Human Barbie.”

Her style change worked so well that many accused her of undergoing plastic surgery.

4. Yet, Lukyanova maintains that’s not how she achieved her look.

She said the only procedure she had was on her breasts and her face only looked doll-like due to skillfully applied makeup and similar cosmetic tricks.

5. And she wanted her body to look the part, too.

Lukyanova put her slender figure down to daily workouts, but also seemed to embrace “breatharianism.” This describes the belief that food is not necessary for life and that the body can live entirely off of air and light.

A few weeks into this practice, she claimed to have not felt hungry at all. Yet that’s not the full story with breatharianism.

6. Critics describe the practice as a “potentially lethal pseudoscience.”

Several breatharians have reportedly starved to death trying to live on “cosmic micro-food” and none have ever volunteered for medical testing.

Eventually, Lukyanova said she no longer liked her body and found new inspiration for how she wanted to look.

7. Instead of Barbie, she wanted to adopt an Amazonian look.

Fortunately, it looks like she distanced herself from the dangerous diet. More than that, she appears to have changed up her workout regimen.

However, her journey hasn’t only been physical.

9. She’s also very passionate about making music.

As she put it, “When I’m singing, it’s like a deep trance for me. Music will help people relax and make a journey into their hidden places inside.”

10. She usually describes herself as an “opera new-age” singer.

But lately, her career seems to have moved in a different direction.

11. She’s now making EDM music as Space Barbie.

Last year, she released her single “Jack Your Barbie” that she teamed up with fellow Ukranian DJ Sender to make. The name is a reference to the Rhythm Control hit “My House” from back in the ’80s.

12. She’s not stopping there, either.

She and DJ Sender are reportedly working on an album that will feature her singing in “ancient forgotten languages” and promises to put listeners in a meditative state.
